Bridgestone BT-010 --> BT-014??
Is the BT-014 the replacement for the 010 model?
I know there is lots of talk about tire sizes and which ones to get and such, but I have decided to get the 180/55 since I don't need the wide rear tire, but would love to be able to turn in easier. I have used the BT-010's before, on my CBR, but they are now being sold only as OEM replacements, which means they have been replaced with a newer model.
Anyone near me have a front stand I can borrow so I can take the wheels off myself to get them to a dealer to be changed? Much cheaper that way.
I need tires fast, I waited too long and now the treads are starting to show through on the middle part.

Bt-012 is a factory stock model for several bikes. The 014r is the only one I would even consider buying and uh ...I am not impressed.
CycleGear (and most mc shops) will mount and balance a loose rim for $12.50 and sell road hazard at 10% of tire cost. The most I have payed for a loose rim mount and balance is $25 ...
this is what a wornout tire looks like

the 020 is even harder

I am with pull2vertical. Cycle Gear has good deals on tires. However, they only mount tires to rims off the bike. I think the closest stores to you are in Pleasanton or Modesto.
List of stores.

I would also recommend Metzeler M1 Sportecs.

The 014 is the replacement of the 010, yep. But you don't want a 180 on a 6" rim, the 190 handles really very very good.
Look at this tyre shape (190!!!):

I third or fifth the BT014's I have used BT010's forever and now the 14's are even better. Same or better level of grip, turn in is vastly improved with a 190. Almost pointy in profile. I am on my second full set, I got 4500 out of the first ones with 2 or 3 track days. They were both square in the middle when I was done.
I bought both together at Cyclegear $273.00 mounted and balanced I think after taxes and such, no road hazard.

I didn't have any idea that Cycle Gear mounted tires. I will call the tomorrow to check on this. I can get the rear off, since I have a stand, but I don't have a front stand, so I would have to borrow one or bring the bike in for just that after getting the rear done.
As far as I know, this is the original set of tires that I will be replacing. Granted, they are down to the treads, but there are 6700 miles on the bike. I could be wrong and these may be the second set, I just don't know, since I got the bike with 5400 miles on it and the flat spot on the back was pretty pronounced at that point.
