Nope. Would not consider that item. If I can't fit it between my backpack, rear hump, and my tank bag, I'll take the car.
The picture in the add is insane. It looks dangerous and like it would make the ride experience highly un-enjoyable.

When riding solo with a ventura bag (or any other bag of the same style) the bag should be turned around and positioned over the passenger seat to bring the weight forward. They should only hang off the rear if you are riding 2 up

The pic in the add is extreme...if I were marketing it I wold have made a "sexier" load...the beer and firewood makes the point more effectively...
As for a loaded bike being less enjoyable than a car? I wholeheartedly disagree: Just take a look at Josh rounding that corner on his loaded machine...looks like a pretty enjoyable experience to me! Some of us are just more cage driver than others i guess
There is something primally enjoyable about a bike trip...about skillfully packing a 2 wheeler with everything you will need for a long trip. I love riding a loaded machine, I love the feeling of heading out with the ability to go wherever the wind blows me, I love being able to say "fuggit, I'll stay another day or 2"...I love the freedom.
Yeah, you can experience that logistical freedom in a minivan too but for me it is fundamentally lacking some sort of primal joy. This primal joy cannot be overstated. I mean the bike lacks some of the "logistical freedom" afforded by the minivan (if you have ever pulled over under a bridge in a downpour or changed your route to avoid the snow falling on a high pass you understand a minivan technically has more logistical freedom) but even so, the cage comes up short...I would rather take a downpour on the chin while scratching this primal itch than drive warm and dry in a minivan with the itch unscratched....it is THAT powerful a factor.
That said, I think the ventura system and this "seat plate" is waaaaaay overpriced. For the $, the "seat plate" does not give you any more space than you already have and to get ventura's rack and 2 bags is about $500 and still looks weak. For that $ you could build a stronger, slicker, custom system out of aircraft grade aluminium. Then too, some ingenuity, a back pack or 2, and a pile of bungees is itself an effective "system" that provides its own brand of primal joy...lol
Yes, I have far too much time on my hands right now

I'd consider it and I doubt it'd be unsafe or unrideable - probably less affect on the bike than a pillion. I'm all for packing light, but if you'll be living off the bike for 6 weeks its not always feasible. Not everyone uses their sport bikes only for riding 5 miles down the street to the local bike night
That pic of me was taken just a few days from the end of a 6 week, 9,000+ mile trip. I had some work to do along the way which required computer, suits, office clothes etc and also packed a full complement of MX gear as I did some MX/off road along the way too. Probably about 75lbs of luggage (rough guess). It did make the bike feel heavier, but it by no means made the ride less fun and the performance was still quite respectable. I made half a dozen runs up and down the dragon and only got passed once and that was by a local on a 848 with leathers and sliders (and he made use of them in every corner). Even all loaded up I passed a pack of modded out and very aggressively driven BMW 3 series cars.

Disliking something doesn't make it dangerous or insane - if it did I'd have to conclude cages were so
You are missing out, 2-up is different, but can be loads of fun It doesn't mean riding slow either - pilette and I rode with Wade and a friend of his and maintained a moderately spirited pace in the twisty bits.
