Yet another + mod question
This one's about as basic as they get and I feel a fool for asking it...on a TLR, where ARE the coils? I've lifted the tank and can see the plug wire from the rear cylinder goes towards the underside of the front cylinder. Is that where they're located? I don't want to do a bunch of unnecessary disassembly.

thanks. I was hoping not to have to remove the base of the air box, but it is what it is. Next weekend then.

Its not as hard as you think ... Just be careful with the wires / plugs etc etc.
And be REALLY CAREFUL not to drop ANYTHING down the throttle bodies

Yeah, I had the base of the air box off when I installed the PC 3 and did the TPS adj and throttle body sync. I put rags down the TB throats to prevent the errant nut/bolt going where it shouldn't. It's just a PITA to completely remove the air box. But...for a 2.7 hp gain on a TLR and easier starting, I think it'll be worth it!

Well, I got it done yesterday. I must say though, getting the orange/white wire off the right-side coil was not easy. After 3/4 hour of trying to get my fingers under the connector to release the securing tab, I ended up having a (relative) brainstorm and used a long screwdriver from underneath and behind the frame spar to release the tab. After that it was just re-assembly. Started on the first try. Didn't get to ride it though. That'll have to wait 'til next weekend.

No. The spousal unit was pissed that I'd already spent so much time with the bike on Sunday so that'll have to wait. I don't really have charging/battery problems anyway (yet), so it's not really a priority with me.
