Tls clutch cover

Hi. After much use of sealant, shortening of bushes , and deliberating i have decided to fit later model cover or better still a metal one ! to my 97 model tl. please could i have some advice on where to buy? as i cant stop it leaking oil when hot as the cover just warps and breaks the seal. is this normal or is there something causing it? hope you guys can help. steve

Search for "Clear clutch cover" and you'll get all the info you want.
Also search for "clutch cover leaks" to see what other people have done for the same problem.

Steve, my guess is that if you've tried al that lot then you might be overtightening the cover bolts

It's a very low torque setting done in a set pattern............... other riders have had the same problem as you when they haven't followed the correct sequence.

Hi toledo, iam torquing to 11nm in a criss cross no leaks or warping till bike gets hot after about 5 mins of running will look for clear cover thanks mate, steve

IIRC I think the torquing for those bolts is just 8nm, meaning probably your cover is already warped, something you can't easily see with bare eye.

read this article http://www.tlzone.net/forums/frequen...-fix-them.html by one of our members here. Actually he's one of the guys that sell CCC (Clear Clutch Covers) by converting OEM covers to CCC.
The other guy is Vandriver who makes all billet alu CCCs

well i have this problem right now and ive ordered a new one from the dealers at a cost of 85 quid so it better work.

its now leaking water as well ! ordering new cover and associated gaskets and seals for main cover. just looked at when i joined the tl zone may last year bike not covered a mile since! thank god i also got 1200 bandit! where is your cover from as quoted £105

i got mine from clay cross power sports, now known as stratstone clay cross, get the part number for a 2000 cover from roy ayres and i used it when i ordered mine just got to pick it up, normally comes in next day

All bits arrived today later cover and all seals and gaskets for rh side. had a tootle to squires last night , spoke to couple of mechanics one said tl,s will always leak oil even with later cover!! another said later cover will fix for good. i hope it works as lookin forward to riding the beast again.
