Paint cost question.
Any ideas on how much it would cost to have a shop paint a undertail and a hugger? I looked into Color Rite rattle cans and they want $100 for 1 can each of base, color, and clear coat.

depends on where you are I think, Had my hump painted black last winter for 100. I really think it depends on the shop you go to. The hump was done fabulous, it had some big scratches on it that needed filled and sanded. There is this car paint shop that also does motorcycles next to my suspension shop and made this deal, the guy matched the paint really well with the rest of the bike.

I had my entire bike painted a few weeks ago which included some minor repair work (dented tank, cracked plastic) and it only cost me $300.00 total. They painted it in 48 hours and the paint is immaculate (save for one fleck of dirt in a spot that isn't even easily visible). I even got a lifetime warranty from them for cracking, peeling, defects, etc...
I'd never been there before so it wasn't a "hook up" type of deal... point is, shop around and you may find a good deal, or even a steal like I got.
If anyone cares, mine was done in Louisville, KY by SMI Collision (Saint Matthews Imports). Sorry, but the quality I got for the money, I had to drop their name.
I wouldn't pay that much for rattle can paint, not counting the time and trouble it will take you to do it yourself.

I wouldn't be to fussy with the undertail, because after the first ride its gonna have a shitload of stone chips on it from the back tyre......

I just had my hump, rear hugger, and upper (nose) fairing repainted. It was 3 colors, I couldn't afford to go the 4th color. With the "hookup" it came out to $400. I had to provide my own stickers as well, so add that to the cost - let's round it all off to $450. I'll try to provide pics soon.

The quality was worth it - but mine was a little "custom".
