engine cutting out

A couple of times now my 01 TLR's motor has just cut out without warning. Once a couple of months ago at @ 120 kmh, and it seemed to be when I went over a bump in the road surface. That time I pulled over and it restarted immediately. This morning, happened again shortly after pulling away from some traffic lights. This time it was harder to restart, the first few times I pressed the start button nothing happened, than it turned over and started but stopped again, with a fair bit of smoke coming out of left hand can, then it started and ran fine ... anyone else had anything similar and work out the cause? Not had a chance to look at battery connections yet, will do that when get off from work.

mine did that a few times, one of two things fixed mine.
1 the tip over sensor is fumbling around
2 the relay (i think thats what it is) above the battery has a burnt conection.
i just reached up in there and wiggled mine and it worked fine for a few days then did it again. had to replace the micro clips on the ends.

hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestions, my suspicion is its the side stand switch which I'll fiddle with over weekend.

My guess would be the starter relay. Known issue with many TL's. Do the search. I hard wired mine.
