How to install a tank bra

I've never installed a tank bra. How do you install an oem tank bra on a tlr? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

I have a half-bra on mine, a Second Looks brand. It was easy, just remove the seat, clip the clips to the lower back portion of the tank (closest to the seat) and then pull and stretch the elastic (bungie) cord around the top portion of the tank and smooth as needed.

Works best when the bra is warm as it forms better.

If I remember right all you have to do is remove the steering dampner and the two bolts holding the front of the gas tank down. Lift the tank and use the tank support rod to hold it up. The Back of the bra ( the part that sits by your crotch) should have a few plastic tabs (i think) You just put thse on the inside lip of the rear of the tank and maybe some on the sides. On the front there was a strap on mine to hold it down. Just put this over your tank so that the strap is on the bottom side of tank. It will ride on the air cleaner but i will nothurt anything. I hope this somewhat explains it.

haha if you're ads are turned on you gotta love how the they are associated with key words in the thread. Aside from that my bike's got one and it's great, but we'll call it a bro instead.

Ads are on here - luv the association . I have a half "bro" on mine from Suzuki. I had to remove the seat to get the clips under the tank crotch area but the strap went right over the front w/ o removing the damper . Go figure!

Where are you located at? If you're in the Southwest, I'd advise against the bra. Why? The dust out here is fine sand. It gets under the bra and the vibrations act as sand paper on your tank. I learned that the hardway with a car when the bra's were "in style".

Just my .02.

My LP half bra went on like Scott mentioned, only involved lifting the seat to get the back of it on properly. The elastic just stretched around the front of the tank. No need to lift it.

(But I gave it away and just used a normal protector for the reasons Monkee mentioned. Dirt and dust under it, is not a good thing.)
