I took the cluster off and accessed it from the rear. I posted my gauges and somewhat of a how-to on TL Planet. Here's the link

http://www.tlplanet.com/forums/showt...ht=blue+gauges

Here's a pic of what it looked like first time around when I only put three LED's at the top. It worked, but they weren't as bright as they are now. I was also thinking about going with a plug and play bulb, but then I think you would end up with a hot spot at the top and the bottoms still not lighting up as well as you would want.

That's why I tore it apart again and put five in each, that way I could spread them around to achieve more of any even lighting. I would also like to say that in person, the gauges don't have any hot spots to the naked eye, something about the camera, it magnifies the hot spots in the pick.

so you solder the leds together and feed them through the hole where the stock bulb went and you try to spread them around inside as much as possible?

Just got my LED’S today they are:
NFLS-x30 Flexible Light Strip
1/2 Meter (19.5 Inch) long Non-waterproof Flexible Light Strip with 30 High Power LEDs
12 VDC Operation, Can be cut into 3-LED segments
LEDs on highly flexible strip with adhesive backing

I Had to buy two strips as OS cost me $16.95 each strip of 10 + $5.00 Post.

I used I strip of 5 for the rev gauge and a strip of 4 for the Speedo

Did not like that I had a uneven light on the gauge due to factory shading so I removed it with a blade then placed blue contact over to get a even light over the hole gauge.

I used some foam box not to bend the needle pin.

And in the end.

Only thing left for me to do is work out + - sides on the back.
If any one knows as I have my bike in 100 bits so no power

So all in $20 Mod

Anyone considered the easy option ? .... Get some LED's and point them at the face of the gauges from somewhere on the upper fairing. Light them up from outside so to speak

That is a fantastic idea! Looks like they have a few colors to chose from too. I would think that you could just solder the wires to the board.

Well its not that bad an idea ... Some directional LED's would only light up the clock face, but from the outside. If they are behind the top fairing no ones gonna see them. Just a thought trying to save messing about !!
