A Kourier has to establish space on the pavement. Predictable law-abiding behaviour lulls drivers. They mentally assign you to a little box in the lane, assume you will stay there, can't handle it when you leave that little box.
Y.T. is not fond of boxes. Y.T. establishes her space on the pavement by zagging mightily from lane to lane, establishing a precedent of scary randomness. Keeps people on their toes, makes them react to her, instead of the other way round.

Have an 02 now my wife's just knocked the baffle out of the stock muffler, it sounds much better now. I think the article was from svrider, I just did a Yahoo search for removal of the baffle.

you can put heavier oil in the forks, that helped mine a bunch.
stock tires suck, put pilots on mine and dropped the front 4 mm and it made it a whole new bike. you are going to love it.
if you get her a pipe a suggest a leo vince. good for 6 hp and great sound. congrats and ride safe. i my sv
going up a tooth in the rear helped too...

The 2 piston floating caliper brakes are horrible.
Get a set of these brake adapter plates and some 01-03 GSXR 600/750 calipers for a MUCH improved brake
(If you go this route also ask Zoran about supplying some new Galfer brake lines and new pads to go with - he probably even has a set of calipers he'll let you have cheap and can give you turn key braking performance package!)
He'll get you a good deal on a Leo too if you want a new pipe.
Tell him DEcosse sent you!

Just curious, do any recent front ends from higher end sport bikes (R1, GSXR, CBR, ZX etc) fit without hassle or screwing up the geometry?

Like this?
It's a pretty easy swap - for a street bike there is a work-around to replace the speedo sender, but even that is not exactly a challenge.
This is the detail associated with my GSXR front end swap:
http://forum.svrider.com/showthread.php?t=86338
The most direct (closest to OEM for igniton lock etc) triple clamps are from the 04/05 600/750 series - with that you can use 04/05 600/750 forks or 03-06 1000 forks. On mine it has 07 600 forks and lower triple with 05/06 1000 upper triple clamp (use the fork matrix guide here on TLZone to determine what 'mixes'.
The 600 & 750 forks on 04/05 are identical incidentally (850 springs); on 06+ the 600 are gold with 900 springs; the 750 are black with 1000 springs; but valving etc is the same.
You do need a new wheel since the SV uses a 17mm axle - lots of choices from the GSXR or even Hayabusa/TL range. I used a silver Hayabusa wheel to match the rear. If black, GSXR is better bet, bolt-on rotors with no mod.
On a Gen2 everything works (esp with the 04/05 clamps) - steering stops on all the lower triples work
On a Gen1 (pre '03) you need a special top bearing and steering stops are a little more awkward to resolve
Regarding geometry:
The GSXR forks are a tad shorter, but the tire diameter goes up a little with the slightly 70 series taller tire; The offset is little longer however - 30mm vs 26.5 or 28 (depending on whether you have 'S' or 'N'); collectively those pretty much offset each other (no pun intended) that only makes a difference of a few mm on the trail. So not a huge difference to standard geometry.
Here's an article I wrote on the effect on geometry associated with the GSXR swap:

Yup, what he said.
I'm riding on an 07 GSXR-600 front, the bike handles and stops much better with it, but I have no steering stops or steering lock. It also tends to lift the back tire under heavy braking when you're rolling on the stock shock. On the S models the GSXR clip ons interfere the fairings, so I bought Helibars, basically moves them to the stock SVS position.
The head bearing is easy, just send Zoran an email, and it's a 10 minute operation with the dremel once you pound out the old race, the trick is getting out the old race.
