yea i got the access to a person that can weld and a person that has a pipe bender...what i have to do is figure out if it is possible to run a low boost (7lbs. to 28lbs. for the specific on i bought) on the TLR and not do any damage...i just have to pick up the rest of the little stuff...(blow off valve/waste gate/down pipe/oil line/etc.) lol everything but the turbo...i would love to be the first to do it and make it work..but info is just showing that it might just be a dream

not sure what the link was .........but turbos and boost?

Ok a turbo makes boost as a product of the amount of exhaust gas flowing thru it. take a turbo designed say for a 2litre engine running to say 8000 rpm and it produces say 15lb boost. Its optimised in many ways to have those characteristics including how it delivers boost at lower than peak revs.

put the same turbo on a 1litre engine and you might think 7.5lb boost at 8000... its half isnt it. well no there are so many things involved. efficiency and size being the basics.

then add the engine characteristics and specifically the camshaft. this influences the pressure in the inlet manifold and the exhaust manifold .

the waste gate only controls the upper limit of boost not the production of it.

you need a turbo that will produce pressure suited to the engine size and characteristics and a cam that can not only utilise the pressure but can influence thru the exhuast cam timing the creation of that pressure.

Ignition curve management is to be considered too.

I have a porsche 924 turbo and thru phill at surecam we developed a cam for my motor which is designed to maximise the exhaust gas pressure . it now drives more like a small v8 than a turbo 4 but its still scary fast over 4000 rpm .

there are no easy answers and the issue of plumbing is the most minor one.

DrH lives and breathes these problems daily and he's not interested so that must say something!!!!

I'm not in any way suggesting that this is a non starter , just highlighting the considerations. If you really wanna do it , it will happen, just do the homework and get the right bits , that is the pathway to success.

That's probably a better question for DrH.

probably something off a jap car with 1litre displacement and 8500 top rpm would be a cheap starting place. and an integrated waste gate. once you have an idea I'd start looking on forums to see how adjustable the WG might be. you might want to play with the max pressure.

There's 660cc engines here with Turbos ... my Pajero Mini has one. The Pajero IO or Junior in some markets is a 1L and I think it has a turbo
