Oh it's easy, you can always fault him for not checking the gas gauge.

A Kourier has to establish space on the pavement. Predictable law-abiding behaviour lulls drivers. They mentally assign you to a little box in the lane, assume you will stay there, can't handle it when you leave that little box.

Y.T. is not fond of boxes. Y.T. establishes her space on the pavement by zagging mightily from lane to lane, establishing a precedent of scary randomness. Keeps people on their toes, makes them react to her, instead of the other way round.

Doug I got to do the ducati track day last fall. I had a great time. I always ride with the fast guys even if I dont have the fastest bike there. We had a guy that was riding all kinds of crazy lines. He was going to cause a problem. The track marshall guys were with the street guys so nobody really payed any attention to him. I had to get that taken care of right away. He should not have been out there with the fast group. I hate to hear that this happens but it is a track.

another cheap mod Doug for the SD

another cheap mod Doug for the SD - i'm guessing you may had read it all ready.

    Kenbike:
On the Super Duke site guys have been swapping out the intake trumpets with the RC8's. It seems to work best with the secondary throttle plates removed and the shafts pulled. I did that to my bike last year and dropped in a set of super duke cams for a 2007 into my adventure so decide to give them a try. The bike also has a Moto Hooligan air box.
I ordered the intake trumpets from my local dealer part # 61241040000 for $20 for the set. They twisted in and went for a test ride last night. I was surprised they made the bike smoother at lower rpm's and it felt slightly stronger and seemed to build rpms faster, but did get a little more intake noise. One guy picked up 6 hp on his Super Duke R with a dyno test.

The guy had a Super Duke R and first pulled a dyno run as his bike as it was set up. Next step was swapping the intake trumpets and picked up 3 hp and no decrease across the range. Next pulled the secondary throttle plates and picked up 1 more hp on top, and then pulled the shafts for a total of around 5 hp. The RC8's are very short so the guys are thinking the stock Super Duke trumpet is very close to the top of the air box and the RC8 provides an additional 3/4 of an inch of space improving air flow. My bike has the Motohooligan air box and the shafts pulled so it seemed to help, not sure on a stock set up. The biggest plus is I still had some rough fueling at 1500-2000 rpm when I rolled on the throttle slowly and that issue cleared up! For $20 you can't go wrong. If you try an order it may be a wait, the super duke guys cleaned out the stock in the USA and Europe.

    Head2Wind:
I suspect that the bell edge curve is different as well as it changes the total intake tract length with the RC8 trumpets.... granted, the additional space between the top of the airbox and the bell would/should help power. Keep in mind that its not all about linear steady state total flow with these little jems...since the flow through them is pulsed in nature (inbound and outbound pressure waves) the shape is critical to proper wave clamping at different frequencies (RPMs)....

    RC8 Stacks.

You can have the best of both worlds with a longer inner stack + RC8 stack.

MK3 air box & I made the DVS myself, you need the high roof to run the Dual velocity stacks, the standard MH air box roof is to low, but there is a mod for that coming so the MH will work with the DVS. I will be do further Dyno testing with the RC8 + DVS on Thursday to see if they are any proven gains using the DVS.

I will post the RC8 stack + DVS results if anyone is interested after Thursdays Dyno tests, I will be doing some power runs, standard stack + DVS / RC8 stack / RC8 stack + DVS, I will then build a custom single cylinder map with the best performing combination of stacks to see the final gains.

The last Dyno results from my SMR (below) after building a single cylinder map using a PCV in GREEN & then fitted the inner DVS in RED 5 min later. As you can see by only fitting the inner stacks I gained nearly 5 HP + exta torque everywhere, if I built a custom map with the DVS it would show more gains the A/F ratio ran richer with the DVS fitted.

This is the DVS fitted to the standard stack V RC8 stack, I later cut the fins shorter to match the RC8 stack.

They will be out for sale soon so keep an eye out on the SD forum in a few weeks time.

Hopefully the RC8 + DVS stacks will show improved results over the standard stack version.

Fitting the RC8 stacks by themself does feel stronger above 6000 as mentioned in this thread, a well worth mod for the cost if you rev your bike over 6000rpm a lot..
