Have you ever seen a stuff like this?[/IMG]
It was done after a normal engine warm up at 3K rpm!
Unfortunately cracked cam buckets are a very common problem, always the exhaust on the front cylinder, do a thread search, lots of examples

In Germany this problem is well known even on street engines! It's always a front exhaust bucket that fails.
It gets a lot worse with tuned engines (too much cam lift, too hot cams). My biggest opponent in the TL Cup blew his engine twice in one race season. In both cases it dropped a valve just after warmup.

Failed valve bucket tappets?

Greetings
Rufer

I've never had one fail and this is the only other place I've seen it mentioned.

Failed valve bucket tappets?

I am unfotunately glad to see it wasn't a special case... But what does it mean? Why we have this kind of problem at each time on the same place? Un my case I have plan to put new tapets, but is it a safe solution? It makes a lot of questions! But thanks to all!

Yes just put in some new buckets and the problem is solved. On used engines if you check the cam buckets carefully from time to time you will see the buckets starting to go before they break up completely. I have changed out the buckets on the last race engine that I put together as the parts where used and would have let go. ON the first race engine I built which does not have high lift cams just stock ones and a fair number of miles on the street and the track no problems. Seems more pronounced when the engine has high lift cams.

So thanks Doug! Now I hope I will never met again this kind of troubles, so I will include this clearance in my race check list.
