I have read that because 6-piston brakes have smaller pistons, thus narrower brake pads, that the contact patch at the disk is narrower. With 4-piston the pistons are bigger, the pad is bigger, thus disk has wider contact patch...
Some pictures show this, disks are different with bikes that have 6 piston brakes from the factory...

Jarrko,
But when fitting aftermarket 4 potter to disks that originally had 6 potters, that doesn't add up as you still only have the same width of disk to work with. (~30mm)
Also when changing from TLS 4 potter to 6 potter the pad length increases from approx 70mm to 100mm and they both still bite on approx 30mm of disk width.

maybe it doesn't apply to TL disks, but most 6-cylinder systems use much narrower contact patch.
It was some article in Performance Bike if I remember correctly.

What... me worry???

The Tokico 6 potters are the ones you want but the hole spaceing on the gsxr1k's are too close, they wont fit. The 01-02 gsxr master will work tho. Its is a 5/8, however the 03 and later is no good as its a 14mm, ie too small.

TLR is 90mm caliper centres........01/02 GSXR 1000 is 62mm centres as seen in the pic (TL and 02 Gixxer)........one thing with disc rotors is the working surface width, the wider it is the higher the speed differencial from inside to outside, one reason for narrow band rotors and multiple pads

A small point on the master cylinders most jap bikes use imp sized pistons ie 5/8 brembo uses hard metric sizes ie 16 mm if on a TLR for example you were after a little more braking power and less lever travel try a 16mm brembo master cyinder of a 900ss around 93-96 we used to use these on 99,00 zx 9's and it did help
