Question Where do you go?

Hi brother tillers, Im getting quotes to rebuild the bottom end on my spare 99 tlr engine. Prices have been between $4.500-$6.500 (aus dollars) using standard parts. Am i getting stitched up?

oggi knobs. anodised barends, polished and machined GSXR1000 top triple with Helibars, single 7' headlight. arrow cans, custom rear peg mounts, white power shock and spring centre mounted on R swing arm, painted frame, polished lower gsxr1000 triple,K7 gsxr1000 forks, hugger, undertail, clear tail light lens, PC 11 , modded airbox, K&N air filter, radial calipers, braided front lines, polished rims and black painted wheel spokes, fan override switch , TRE, tank bra, american high capacity battery, gsxr1000 front guard. tlr gauges, rifleman CCC ,van reservoirs,custom overflow bottle, ducati 999 curved radiator, conventional mirrors, machined and polished clutch pressure plate, welded clutch cam mechanism. stainless brake rotor bolts. ring-in stainless exhaust bolts with brass nuts.

Every mechanic i took the bike to would only listen to it and say its the bottom end.The motor still runs but a slight knocking noise can be heard when the engine is reved at high rpm.I was able to buy a low k engine from a wrecked 00 model for $2.500 (aus)

you need to have the engine stripped and assessed but there is probably no need to rebuild an engine until you need it.

Ring Steve at Max Power, on the prices hwy at Russel Vale, He is a good honest guy and charged me a third of that for a bottom end rebuild including a crank regrind and BMW shells, new rings and gaskets/seals, oil pump etc, (however I still haven't put the lid on it yet so don't know how well it will run) but by all accounts I have no reason to doubt Steve's work.
