Lightbulb Complete story: PC3 USB and FI C33

So beginning from the start, i bought a mint Powercommander III USB here from the Zone about a year ago, from some member, don't recall his name. The unit came from the States to Europe. Downloaded the mounting instructions from the PowerCommander.com page and mounted it on my bike. Then I fired up the bike, all running well .. there was some map in the PCIIIusb from the previous owner ... some revving etc and all sounded good.
Then I noticed on the PowerCommander.com that there was a new firmware then the one which was In my unit. My unit came with a 1.xxx firmware and i saw a 2.3.2 version downloadable for the PC. So, I thought "nice, maybe new features or so" Downloaded it and shot it (with the PowerCommander Centre) in the unit ... Next a environment reset en started the TLR again ... but ... what the heck? The TLR was running like crap it seemed that the engine was running on 1 cilinder?! I checked the Dealer switch and WHAT?? there was a c33 on my screen .. WTF
It took me 1 day to figure out that it was the PC3usb that was causing the error. I thought i fucked up the firmware so flashed the unit again, also with a older firmware version (thnx to a Zoner for the older version cause you can't download them anywhere). Again environment reset still the same issue .. Starting without the PC3 was working fine, TLR then was running smooth but with the unit connected, not
Then i contacted my local Powercommander dealer about the issue and he asked right away "is it a US model?" i said "maybe" and then said "it is possible that you have to change something in the unit" "But it can only be done by Dynojet itself"
Ok, being naive, i contacted Dynojet and explained them the situation via an email. Answer which i got back was: you have a US model and we can't help you, you have imported a gray model from the US -> no support
There i was with a non working PCIII USB ... Slightly desperate, someone from the zone noted me to contact Dynojet USA claiming they were very helpful etc. So I did, via email, explained the situation and the technical guy asked me how many columns there were in the Cylinder Trim function in the Powercommander Centre. I checked and there were 2 columns. I reported it back thinking that was ok but he told me soon that there should be 4 columns and that it was not ok because the unit only works with 2 injectors now instead of the 4 every TLR has. Only way to fix this issue was that i had to send the unit back to the US That was going to cost me xtra posting costs + tax etc .. buggerrr
Suddenly I reminded that I did read somewhere on the zone that there was another Dynojet Office in some other Europe country. I contacted them and with help from a Zoner i got my unit to them. They didn't complain about my US model, fixed it within a week and send it back to me. I opened the package and there was a letter included which said "Updated firmware and all 4 channels enabled". This evening I mounted the unit back on the TLR, did check the cylinder trim function and again there were 4 columns, one for every injector. Also the FI C33 was gone ...

So Yakko, what are you trying to tell us here?

Well, if you have a PC3 USB for the TLR (4 injectors) which happens to have a 1.xx firmware and you would like to update the firmware to the newest version from the Powercommander site, keep in mind that there are chances that you have to send the unit back to Dynojet to enable the two other channels, as they call it. Keeping in mind that you have no support at all when you didn't purchase your unit by your local Dynojet dealer.

Last, but not least, i would like to thank Sam and Kamikuza for all the help and knowledge which was GREATLY appreciated

I thought this write-up was/is useful because i didn't find any similar case on the Zone/Planet/Internet ... so it caused me one big headache maybe i can prevent you from getting one ...

If someone wants to know details (addresses/persons etc) they should contact me via PM

Ok.. I'm new to the PCIII USB. I just got my TRE and PCIII from the U.S. Im in Australia. I installed the PCIII as per the instructions for the TLR and yep same problem! An FI error and it sounds like its on one cylinder. The map was pre-installed for me by Fuel Moto after I gave them the 'heads-up' on the bike's extras. Christ.. I hope I dont have to return it to Dyno I will be onto it again tomorrow and try to figure it out. Thanks for this post.. it has possibly saved me hours of running around I hope this can be fixed with a software update.

Cheers,
Dabbo

If you have 2 columns in Cylinder trim function you have the same issue i had (and such issue can not be fixed with an update) if you have more then two columns i urge you to check your electrical connections to the throttle boddy's and make sure your ground cable is directly mounted to the - of your battery ...

Ok.. found the Cylinder trim function and yep there are 2 cylinders there.. So.. going on your post.. will each injector (2 per cylinder) (total 4) needs to be recognized by the PC as individual cylinders?

Therefore the crappy running last night after PC install is the bike running on one injector per cylinder or 2 injectors but in the one cylinder (sounds like one cylinder)?
Ok.. you know how i'm feeling now..
If as in your letter from dyno.. that the firmware was what was changed.. then there may be hope for me yet. I don't understand why this problem is not a more common one.. I know a number of people in OZ that have purchased A PCIII from the US and they have mentioned nothing?

Any chance someone has a copy of some firmware they could email me?

Cheers

I will repeat once again, new firmware will NOT fix your problem. I flashed also the newest firmware in my unit and still it was dis functional. The specific problem are the 2 channels that are disabled. Those 2 channels are displayed in the powercommander centre as cylinders like you mentioned earlier, but trust me, they are injectors! The only way to fix your issue is to get the unit back to a Dynojet company and let them enable your remaining 2 channels ...

I will post a screenie later this day how the cylinder trim function should look like in the powercommander centre ....
