Provide Product Modifications and Other Revelant Details:
Hi,
I only have two fuel trim banks and the bike is running on one cylinder and is also throwing a C33 FI code.
I know this is a common problem when having updated the firmware on a US model PC3. My problem is that DynoJet.co.uk will not perform the 2 minute job to re-enable the other two injectors.
My biggest gripe is that I live only 20 minutes away from them (Preston, UK) and because they believe this unit is a US sales item, they will not touch it.
I'm not asking for a warranty repair, its a known problem in the software experienced by many many members of our online Suzuki TL1000 club.
This unit it fitted to my new track bike and I'm not in a position to compete as things stand.
Could you tell me what could be done here as I'm really annoyed with the lack of support from DynoJet and more so their attitude towards the situation. I know of people who have had the exact same problem in Europe only to have contacted you to give authorisation to a local DynoJet office to complete the service that you would normally expect without hassle.
If you can help in any way, I'd really appreciate it.
(Name and address supplied)

My point is, if it was a recall on my new car with the fault being you lost half the cylinders just beacause you updated to their lastest code. I'd be able to take it to any bloody main dealer. Its nothing short of a joke
I'm kicking myself for not ringing them last night (+7hrs? ) but I was enjoying my MIG too much There is something about fabrication, when your wife isn't bugging you, that just makes time fly

Email from Las Vegas:
Quote:
Dynojet UK will not help you because they consider it a Grey Market Import. According to the serial number of your unit in the previous email the unit was purchased from a US store and not our UK distributor (Dynojet UK). You can contact Hans@dynojet.com and he will be able to help you out. He is located in Europe and you will have to ship the PC3 to him.

This story gets funnier by the day ... this Hans guy told me (in a email) to take a hike based on the same reason Dynojet UK gave you ..

That's the great thing about emails, it's in black and white now.
Maybe Hans should have this email sent with his next "Grey Import" PC3 fix
If he complains then its not us he should be speaking to, its Las Vegas.

Oh, just re-read the email and saw this link at the bottom...

Gray Market Imports
Dynojet Research is aware that there are several U.S. based internet companies improperly (and sometimes illegally) selling and shipping our products to customers outside of the United States.
Customers outside of the U.S. purchasing items from companies within the U.S. should be aware of the following:
* 1) No warranty/repair support will be given by our official non U.S. distributors for products that we not properly imported by them. For products sold outside of the U.S. the warranty is activated by the Official Dynojet Distributor and processed through them. Products purchased from the U.S. and shipped to outside countries do not have a warranty of any kind if not purchased through an official distributor or one of their dealers.
* 2) No technical support (via phone or email) will be given by our non U.S. distributors for products that were not properly imported by them. If you should require technical support please contact Dynojet Research Inc. (USA) via email (tech@powercommander.com) or telephone +1 702 399 1423 during normal business hours 8 am-5 pm (GMT -8), Monday through Friday.
* 3) Missing or damaged items. If you have purchased and receive a product that is damaged or is missing items from a U.S. company you will need to contact them directly to resolve the situation. Dynojet takes no responsibility for missing or damaged items that were sold through non official channels.
Dynojet Research appreciates your business. However, assistance from our Official Dynojet Distributors is only available due to their efforts and expense supporting our product line.
It is unreasonable to believe these facilities would exist if products were not purchased from them or their dealers, but instead imported from unofficial sources. As you are making the choice of where to purchase our products please keep the above information in mind.

I must have bad karma or something.
The first unit I got was returned and refunded by the seller after two months of chasing him.
So, I have the refunded amount in PayPal (useless!) and spot another one on eBay thats only a few miles away. He doesn't fully know the history of the unit but I take a chance anyway.
Flashed and.....C33 FI
I've emailed Hans (with a little stretching of the truth), so fingers crossed.
Quote:
Hi Hans,
I've been given your email address from Dynojet USA, I require some help regarding a PC3 on my bike.
I've been using this unit just fine since I've had this bike. I noticed that there was a firmware update for this product and installed it. Since then I have had error codes on the bike (C33) and its not running properly. I've also noticed that I should have 4 trim banks and there are only 2 showing in the software.
This was the email I got from the USA:
Dynojet UK will not help you because they consider it a Grey Market Import. I don't know about the history of the PC3 as it came with the bike when I bought it. The serial number is 07100300XXXX
|
Symptoms: didn't want to start from cold + FI. Unplugged and started the bike, fine. Reset throttle values, now starting with C33. Its sounds much different but nowherenear as bad as my last *faulty* PC3. Not quite one cylinder, as its idling so-so.
I'd take it for a ride but I'm running on a slick rear and its peeing down (plus I've had a can and I never drink and ride...full stop!)
I can't validate that this only affects non-US models, but it sounds like poisioned code to me.

Seems that way, right? BUT, I am having this EXACT problem right now, as we speak. I am located in Florida (U.S.). I purchased a brand new PC3 (through a DJ Authorized Tuner!) and it just arrived today. I triple checked everything when I got the C33, then decided to Google it, finding this. I only have the 2 Cylinder Trim columns.
I called DJ an hour and a half ago. They emailed me 2 .exe files and a firmware update. Said that should fix it. No change. Waiting to hear back from them...this particular rep has been less than expedient with a reply, and I'm getting VERY irritated...
Obviously, if we have any known fixes (other than a return to DJ for repair), I would LOVE to hear it!

Right! Its gone to Hans for *repair*. I emailed him and got an answer the next working day saying to post it to him.
99 TLR, are you sure you have a US ECU? What's the part number?
Once it is back, tested and safe, I'm going to ask Hans what the hell is going on. Maybe I might get something out of him.
