ok so i back probed the coils today. hooked up the test light to the neg bat terminal. back probed the power wire for the coil and got light, ok good. well just for shits i probed the neg wire and that lit up to. both the coils do this. what can possibly be going on? everything worked fine before the swap. are the coils shorted? or would a bad ground somewhere make the power go thru the coils like that. i dont know

Allright, on the TLS, the ECU triggers the ground for the coils and the power seems to come from the fuel pump relay.
Have you checked the crankshaft position sensor? Throttle position sensor? Gear position sensor?
Or ... are the spark plug boots firmly in the ends of the plug wires? Maybe trimming a few millimeters off the ends and then screwing the plug caps back on will help.

the power to the coils is on continuously and the ecu controls the ground side of the coils which determines when the coil fires the high voltage side to the sparkplug

The negative from the battery goes to frame/ motor. That is the only "ground strap" I have found IIRC. The rest comes from the harness. Extra grounding or cleaning up those connections can help clean up the amps a bit.

Before you go ripping into things verify that you have no spark using a screwdriver instead of a spark plug.

stay basic before ripping into things. It might help to get on the phone with one of us to work through it.

some things I would check, clutch switch, side stand switch, ground that goes from the starter relay block to the frame, gps gear position wiring, does the fuel pump run when you first turn the key on. Put it in dealer mode and look for a code.

IT RUNS!!! ok so i think i feel like a dumbass. is it possible that you wont get spark when the fuel pump is not connected? because its obviously easier to check for spark when the tank is not on. thats what thru me off. and its always a good idea to make sure you have ENOUGH gas in the tank. i believe this is all the problem was but checking for spark and it not being there with the tank off lead me to check all possible problems with the ignition. well i thank you all for your help. and i learned a lot i think i might be able to help someone else out in the future hahaha. thanks again...steve
