Any insight on the firing order?

So...I have these pictures...and to me, it looks like this motor is firing 1/4-2/3

any thoughts? this is outside my sphere of knowledge...so I'll leave the debate open to you much more wiser folk.

Looks like 1-4-2-3- to me as well.

Is this a pic of a real motor in production today or just a design of something for the future?
Might be easier to google it if its real.

it's a soon to be production motor...no info on it yet. I'm trying to figure out if its a big-bang design or not.

Exhaust cam lobes seem to be 90 degree apart per cilinder. And the crank is just plain ordinairy.

that's what is was on the Kan-o-tuna. 1 and 4, 2 and 3... both fired at the same time. I guess it doesn't matter if the "other" cylinder gets a spark in the middle of the exhaust cycle...

if you look at the exhaust cam on this picture you will see that it is a conventional camshaft.

this picture is of a conventional engine and you can't make any assumptions from it .

to be a big band engienthe lobes on the cam would need to be in the same plane in 1-4 and 2-3 . the firing order would then be determined by the phasing of the lobes. if the 1-4 pair were 90degrees before the 2-3 they would fire first. if phased after then fire after.
remember here that the cam turns at half the crank speed. so 180degrees of cam is one revolution of crank.

but the answer to the question first asked is this is not a big bang engine.

Loki your crank requires a different cam altogether.

The basic method of decoding the pics for me is to look at the pointy bits of the cam. If the pointy bit of the intake cam is facing the valve or close to it then that cylinder is sucking in air/fuel, if the pointy bit on the exhaust side is facing the valve, then that cylinder is squirting exhaust out and if both pointy bits are pointing away from the valve fuel/air is getting compressed

That theyar is a BEEMA! Pretty sure thats the new s1000RR engine. Apparently they continue to use those silly hemishperical shims...I was wondering.
