TLS oil leak with pics
I have had this leak for quite some time now and I would usually just park on some cardboard and call it good. It would only drop about 3-4 drops of oil and then it would be done. This week I decided to try and figure out where it was coming from and see if I could fix it. I have seen some other threads and the pics look similar (for a TLR) so I am hoping this is one of the common leaks people talk about. I cleaned the area completely with engine degreaser and rode around for about 10 mins. There seems to be one of two places it is coming from. I don't know what these areas are called, but either the steel rod that seems to be attached to the shifter (pic 1) or the top area of the cover in pic 2. The oil is all over so I can't find the exact area. Any help would be appreciated.

TlSean,it appears to be the clutch rod seal, our bikes are known to leak at the seal ,try cleaning the clutch rod and make sure it`s not nicked or has any rust on the rod that can damage the seal.

I took the rod out, cleaned, it seemed pretty clean. How do I repair or fix that? I almost took some gasket sealer and coated the one end of it but thought better of that idea.

You need to go but another seal, cheap as chips really, just be abit careful with it when installing..tap it in gently with a socket.

How do I get the old one out? When I was checking for leaks before, I pulled the push rod out and lost a little bit of oil. Not sure how to grab onto that seal to pull it out?

take off the front sprocket... There is a metal plate that holds that seal in place. removing the sprocket allows access to the plate , remove the plate to access the seal. the seal is about twice the diameter of what you can see in those pics so dont try to pull it out just yet.....
good luck mate its an easy fix.

Finally found the diagrams I was looking for. Looks like I just remove two bolts and that plate will come off. Do I need to worry about spilling oil all over or is there nothing there?

...that side of the bike, I'd drain the oil - if its new oil then use a new/clean pan...if its old oil then its the perfect excuse for a change...

Do not tap it in too far. When you think it's about far enough and just one little bit will get it right, it will go too far in. Better use some kind of socket with a neck.

Any other places for the leak?
Well, I replaced the seal, went out for a ride, came back and parked it and 10 minutes later had two separate spots of oil drops on the cardboard. Any other ideas for what would leak in that area? Or how to find where the leak is specifically coming from?
