Well they just repaved the road to Fieldbrook. But not many round town to ride. There all really bummmmpppyyyy. Usually hit up 36, rip out to Dinsmore or Mad River and stop at the Burger stand an have lunch. Sometimes we head out 299 out to 96 via hoopa, then through Orleans to the Forks of the Salmon To cecilville, then to callahan, and over to Trinity center, then back to 299. Thats on a good day! We'll usually break it up and do short stints to and fro. Just depends on the time line my group has set out for the day(s). Another variation on the mix is taking 96 to Happy Camp then running the forest service road over to O'brien OR. and then 199 home. That is a really scenic ride, lots of twisties as well. If you ever get into Happy Camp, stop at the lil restaurant at the fork just as you get into town and have one of the Peanut Butter shakes. mmmmmm.
On other days we'll blast down 101 to Ft Bragg and have lunch and ride home. Just depends on how the gang is feeling. So in answer to your question.. not many roads local. But an hours ride and your in some of the best stuff on the planet.

one of these days i'll muster up some courage and ride out there.its around 6 hours by car so it might be a little uncomfortable on the bike.the furthest north i rode so far was into clear lake.theres a lot of nice roads there,it seems like most of them are newly paved.you gota be on the lookout for chp and deer though.have you rode there yet?round these parts usually run up to don pedro lake on hwy120,take hwy49 down to hwy108,then head home.its a good 2 and a half to 3 hour ride but its nice the entire way.
