Question coolant in oil

2001 TL1000s has coolant mixing with the oil I changed the oil and filter and was putting new coolant in the rad but it never filled something told me to look at the oil view window and to my horror I say the new oil turning a green hue color I never even turned it on does this mean I blew my head gasket? Can that be repaired or is my baby toast? Is it worth fixing or better to get a new engine ? any suggestions on how to replace gasket or if not worth it where to get a new 01 TLS motor. Please guys I need all the help I can get

First find out where the leak is. If it was a head gasket you would have some compression loss. It may be a seal in the pump housing. That's where I would look first since you didn't even start the motor and fluid was leaking straight into the crank case. But either way, I would think it's cheaper to fix than replacing the motor.

Get a copy of the manual. Drain the coolant, remove the cover from the pump housing. Follow the steps described to remove the pump impeller and inspect the seal. I've not had to do this procedure so maybe some other members here can provide more details for you.

A bit of previous history is needed, ie why are you putting new coolant in it aswell as an oil change ?

If the waterpump seal was gone you would have water leaking from the weep hole in the clutch cover.

For water to get into the oil as quick as your filling the radiator then its a big hole and I therefore doubt a head gasket.

Has the bike been stood a while or stood over winter with no antifreeze in ?

I'm guessing core plugs in the head if you haven't been in the engine before this happened.

If the clutch cover has been off then possibly the gasket around the water ways.

I'm with Sam (well, actually we're abut 3600 miles apart, but I digress), probably one of the freeze/core plugs in the heads. Nothing else I can think of would let it run through to the oil pan so quickly.

Firstly I would pull off the cam covers, you can see the core plugs from there either side of the spark plug recess looking straight at you.

If there was no antifreeze in the water then they might be just pushed out. Some careful removing/cleaning and a little epoxy such as Araldite before pressing them back in should be good, or possibly new ones if they are rotten (will have to buy them from a car auto store as Suzuki don't list them seperately)

With the cam covers off it should be easy to see the water coming in. Be sure to leave the sump plug out until you find the problem to prevent any water collecting and corroding the bearings/gears etc
