Was that coolant an antifreeze mix? Did it get cold enough over winter to freeze it? If it popped the welsh plugs, be thankkfull if that's the only thing done.

Here's one of TLDV8's pics. You can clearly see the one on the left:

Should be storing it with antifreeze / antiboil / corrosion inhibitor.

The welch / welsh / freeze / core plugs all the same thing, I put a picture up of them, Sam put a picture up of them and mentioned remove the cam covers and have a look!

okay so I pretty much think I figured out the problem the seals and gaskets to the water pump were shot and the oil seal was in pieces now i went onto Ronayers.com for the seals but see some of them have two different kinds for example on the ronayers.com on the 2001 TL1000s crankcase cover gasket (#3) on the price list it has 3-1 and 3-2 two different part numbers for the same part with two different prices which one do i choose whats the difference between the two can someone help me here is the list of seals I need that have two different part numbers for the one I need all of them are on Ronayers.com

Water Pump Fiche
8 (8-1/8-2)
Crankcase cover
8(8-1/8-2)
3(3-1/3-2)
6(6-1/6-2)

all input would be great thanks

You will probably find whatever you order you will get the latest superceded part Number. All the gaskets are the same layout for all year S and R models.

The water pump and associated oil seal went through a few revisions aswell. The oil seal gained a flange to stop it getting pushed in too far if the retaining collar in the cover accidentally got broke out when removing the mechanical seal.

Be sure to clean the shaft and fit a new sealing washer under the impellor bolt. Don't get oil on the white ceramic seal and wrap a little of tape around the flats on the shaft before pushing the cover/oil seal over it to stop the sharp edges damaging the seal.

Good news overall, could of been much worse

No I mean on the list of parts under the fiche

http://fiche.ronayers.com/Index.cfm/...oup/WATER_PUMP

it gives the list of all parts and you click a part number to see the price if you go to the link above you will see for example #8 in the fiche is the water pump bolt and when you go down to the list below it it will have 8-1 and 8-2 to choose from thats where Im getting confused

Interesting.....I don't know how you arrived at that link, but if you click on the link for the water pump fiche in my previous post it only shows one part number.
