Benifit to the air box mod?
Another frequent mod question. Again what is the benifit to doing the air box mod? I just dont want to be doing all the mods to my bike if they arent going to help my riding out.

thats my point, it is a frequent mod. im asking why do it. the mod just explains how to do it. not why you would want to do it.

Same reason you fit a K&N Filter, Aftermarket exhaust, PCIII etc
To allow the engine to breath better and make more power without been restricted by things to get the bikes through emmission and sound laws.

so the only reason they were there was for emissions or saound. sorry im not majorly mechanical i just can turn a wrench and thought id do some of the mods. i jut want to make sure its going to be benificial for me. cause im sure some of the mods are more directed to people who know what they are doing and or for people racing.

Do the mods - even if you're not racing. They are not specifically for racing purposes but they are beneficial

Your friend.... he had all the other mods done with it? Exhaust, K&N, and fueling change? My guess that the intake mod alone may not change much, or may not change much until you are at speed.
My bike came with a freeflowing exhaust. I just checked the throttle position sensor and throttlebody vacuum synchronization yeseterday, then rode around all day today. Did the intake plentum mod tonight.
My ECU is on the way to Chuck's right now, so I'll definitely post any differences...or lack there of. No official Dyno, but seat o' the pants shouldn't be too hard on this bike. I was playing around with the torque wheelies all day. Once I get the ECU plugged back in, I'll see if the propensity to go skyward increases.
