C41 FI code
OK, so C41 is for the fuel pump relay. The fuel pump runs. It runs constantly when you turn the key. The problem is, it doesn't stop like every other FI bike I've owned.
I know the lines from the tank are hooked up correctly. We took the plugs out and they're not wet at all. They're firing as some carb cleaner was sprayed into the cylinder and it tried to fire. You can smell gas in both exhaust cans. Is this just the fuel pump relay? It seems strange that you would be getting gas in the system but it wouldn't fire at all.
Any help?

The ECU will be locking something out with the C41 fault and deliberately trying to stop it from running.
The pump should prime when you turn the ignition on, then stop about 3 seconds later. The signal is fed back to the ECU. The ECU wants to see it when it tells the fuel pump to run, and it doesn't want to see it when the pump shouldn't be running.
If something is causing the pump to run and that is being fed back to the ECU it will bring up the fault because it's not expecting the signal.

It could be your relay sticking open. But im thinking that i jumped one of the terminals on the relay when mine went to see if it would run. I think she fired right up. The relay is an easy one to get out of the way as you can just wire up any old relay to it just to diagnose.

TLR and TLS have the same fuel pump relay's. The TLS has the same side stand relay as the fuel pump.
You're right, the TLR has a different side stand relay. It's a combo with the indicator flasher.

My relay made it to the dealer today. I'm going to pick it up after work and try it tomorrow. Hopefully it's the right part because the woman on the phone didn't really sound like she knew what she was talking about.

Well, she did ask me if the part looked like a step. One step? Wouldn't that be a block?
It runs. It started on Monday but my friend figured it would be funnier to call me and let me hear the bike running instead of calling me and telling me it ran. I though his phone just randomly dialed my number as it had before. So the new relay wasn't needed. The black wire going into the relay needed to have the connection cleaned and pushed farther into the harness.
Tonight I'm going to change the oil and put it mostly together. I'll put air in the tires and take it for a very short spin. It's still unregistered and doesn't have plates, but he lives pretty far back into no where. Just want to make sure there's nothing else that's going to need to be changed out or fixed. If it's mechanically sound, I'll spend as much on the tires as I did on the bike and get it street legal and ready to go.
