Another Engine Bites the Dust.......
Nick on our recent trackday at Cadwell had his motor lock up solid on the main straight at well over 100mph on slicks, very lucky to keep it upright and avoid all those behind him
First thoughts were the usual suspect of the 97 engine, the output bearing as the chain had gone slack aswell....
Looks like a gear failed spectacularly which wiped out the selector fork and allowed two gears to mesh at the same time which fired teeth at the 10,000rpm crank like a gattling gun which in turn accelerated them to pepper the rods/pistons/barrels
Even the cam drive cross over shaft is bent.
Notice the Main Bearing Lower Shell which has started to creep out
Fortunately the cases are ok and just needing a little deburring
I've got 3 weeks to get him ready for Mallory

Rather poor machining job inside the case there, Sam. Definitely not up to your normal standards.
