thanks Sam,,
The clean thing is why i am so gutted the gears have gone,,
the bike has got a genuine 5000 miles on it with one owner,, 2 with me,,,, since i have had it,, i have given it 2 oil changes,, i like to give them regularly as that is what keeps an engine sweet,,, apart from the gears though LOL ,,,, i have only done about 600 miles on it so far, but it looks like it has had them quite frequently,, cant see any wear on the internals,,,, anywhere,,

Oh, ok then,, i will still take it off though,,,, just to check.... i want to do it right if i am bothering at all,, so while i am in there i am checking everything, and replacing as needed.
So far though it has been so clean that nothing looks like it is needed apart from a couple of gaskets that have gone brittle and split,, but i am getting the full gasket kit and doing them all anyway.

If the chain has been too tight it can cause the gearbox to fail prematurely, I would replace the gearbox output bearing, oil pump and big end shells while the cases are split
