water/vapour blasting or what ever they call it
I'm sure they do one with just water and not with the glass beads used in vapour blasting, I've seen the stall at our local auto jumble but can't remember the name
I have an 1 gallon ultrasonic cleaner and it's not that good unless you have access to a proper commercial one.

soda blasting is supposed to be the best of all. if ur blasting.
I used to bead blast but you have to be so careful to clean them out
Engine reconditioners have a product called carbosol which I believe has been superceded by a better safer product and will bring them out like new just from dipping, not good if there is a high maggy content inthe aluminium tho, and you have to remove all the plastic bits first.
interesting thing about the ultrasonic sam I would have thought that the ultimate.
I really want to get a wet bead blaster one day.

You've got to remember, all that makes an old carb look bad is not dirt. There's corrosion involved and aluminum oxide is pretty tough stuff to remove. Blasting or some chemical process is the way to go.

you're not going to believe this but I have cleaned some small carbi bits in the microwave.................
I put them in a micro dish and covered them with soapy water (totally covered) and ran it for 10 min intervals. the water protects the micro from the effects of the metal supposedly, it sort of worked, good but not brilliant.
I've also dried timber for turning in there too but that was another story and almost involved the fire brigade,
Is it any wonder I'm still single

Now go try to boil an egg in your microwave. And when you're done with that try a bar of soap (you'll need to do something to clean the microwave after the egg experiment )

Ultrasonic cleaning. TLR-Billbo had his done this way & had some pix before/after...looked brand new after it was done. He could probably give you more specifics.
