What are the differences between the TLS and TLR engines?
I just bought a 2001 TL1000R with a blown engine for $1600. I've seen a few TLR engines on eBay, but there is a TLS motor on there for a much better price. What would I have to carry over from the blown TLR engine to turn TLS engine into a TLR engine? Is it even possible?

before 10.97 the S differs from the later S
Some 98 S clutches were still 5 spring
The R has 6 spring clutch
the tranny and clutch is basically the same from 1998 on.
the crank rods and pistons and cams are different from s to r
the oil cooler arrangement is different on the R , It has a heat exchanger.
The power output is similar on both but has different delivery characteristics. the R is a bit more aggressive.

There are a lot of threads about this, use search and have a look in the frequent mods forum.
@Stu: The gearbox and clutch were only upgraded for the 1999 TLS models. I have two 1998 TLS and they both have the old clutch and gearbox (with the exception of the big output shaft bearing).
Greetings
Rufer
