I've not done one, but overal I-4's tend to be easier to work with in some ways as you've only got one cylinder bank - one set of cams, more simple to get them timed etc. check to be sure it is rebuildable, I think the cams ride directly on the cylinder head journals with no bearings so if they are scored it may not be easy to rebuild. I don't know if the crank bearings still use shells like the TL or if they've done away with them.
best of luck

still use crank bearings, no bearings on cams. you'll need the flywheel puller, etc to replace the crank seals. pretty simple usually though. pull the cams and head, flip the motor upside down, split the case, pull out the trans and crank/pistons. I'm pretty sure the cyls on those are part of the cases, so just grab the cranka nd lift it out, pistons and all. may be a tad easier to unbolt the rods and pull the crank, then pull each piston individually

ya. I-4 stuff is cake. i do it all day. Just as TLR-Billbo said.. the cam bearings are cast pieces.. .. plastigauge the bearings and everything to ensure clearances are in spec.
the last motor i did that suffered oil starvation made enough metal flakes and ground up piles or aluminum and steel to probably make another motor. trashed 15 gallons of solvent in my parts washer and spent 2 days cleaning the cases. EVERY SINGLE damn bearing in it EVERY one was hosed. there was metal in places i didn't know existed. there are 3 oil pumps on this particular motor, and all 3 are trashed.
the ONLY salvagable parts are the valves, which i'll lightly lap and reinstall, along with a set of new cams (not oem.. different LSA and all)
if you're gonna go into it hardcore, i'd do all the seals if you're going to split the case halves.. at the very least, do a valve adjustment if need be (you can bench adjust..) look into valve seals and make uber sure theres no more reason for the pump to fail.. if you don't know the root cause as to why it went out, find it!!
honestly, they are easy tho.. very simple and basic layout.
good luck man

pretty straightforward . fitting the piston and rings to the barrels will probably require 2 people and a steady hand .
Pm me for details to make ring holders for the job

i doubt it's worth the effort. parts cost alot and there is lot of work and in the end it may still fail.
buy new engine. there is so many crashed k7 out there.
but before doing that, you may open it up for the hell of it, just to estimate the damage. if the head is fine, you can probably sell it. so the new engine doesn't cost that much if you get some money out of the old one.

Agree If a new engine is V cheap or can ride/hear running if not - why bother?, you could well end up with a bigger pile of junk than you have now, at the very least its a big gamble, Whereas short of cracking the block etc, You can rebiuld safe in the knowledge its been done right.

Thanks for updates guys!
Used engines is not available here, buy it from EU or USA not worth, shipping will kill such deal. Will try to rebuild that, hopefully all other parts except crank and bearings are fine, motor have only 1k ,miles on it.
