No other gear but third!!

Hello lady's and gent's. Is it possiable that a clutch can only slip in one gear and no other? Btw ive got a 99 tlr. Any thoughts on this is well appreiciated.

If it was going to slip, it would most likely do it in the higher gears like 5th and 6th at high rpm. But maybe you find a sour spot in 3rd when the RPM / power & load all provoke it.

What are the symptoms?

Does it slip when you acceleratre hard and then bite etc?

Thanks Steve, Upshift to 3rd power up 3 seconds into third under acceleration then a quick slip.. then bite . not a very long slip at all.

That's the finger/ramp cam...tightens the clutch pack under forward torque. Pack starts out looser until there's enough torque being transmitted to actuate the clutch cams, then it tightens the pre-load on the clutch springs and the finally grab.

Did you get the problem sorted? If the slip is more than just once and starts to slip/catch while under throttle you might be looking at gear replacements.
