need affordable cams
couldn't afford JE Hi-comp pistons, so a Wiseco set is on the way for 350$. Would a set of Webb performance cams be an ideal bang for the buck? My ebay seller stop carrying the Webb cams and I'm having a hard time finding a set. Can some1 post a reply with an opinion & a link to a set of affordable cams please? Thx

I've got veetwo cams I'm going to use, so I have an extra set of lightly used WebCam cams in good condition I'd sell for 1/3 price, but you'd need to buy the adjustable gears, which are expensive http://webcamshafts.com/ . New the set of cams and gears would cost $1054 but this way it would only cost you $668 and you have new gears. These already have the mounts for the adjustable gears welded on, so you can't use stock gears anymore. Is this for a TLS or TLR? Aftermarket cams don't work well unless you raise the compression higher than the stock TLR. The Wiseco pistons are the same compression as the stock TLR regardless of what Wiseco says; you'd have been much better off for less money with just the J&E than Wiseco and cams. So you'd need to shave your heads, and .020 is the max you can take off. That could work OK if you set squish carefully.
The lesson is to use J&E unless you can get Wiseco to raise the dome on their pistons.

You can usually get somebody to discount the Wiseco for around $325. You probably did OK if you didn't pay sales tax.

So why the hell didn't we all get Wiseco to make higher-dome TL pistons with better compression? They're half the price of J&E and decently made, and Wiseco makes all kinds of custom pistons...if we'd done a group buy they'd be half the cost of the J&E even as custom pistons.

Same here...IIRC they were about the same weight maybe a gram or two lighter. But the genuine made in Taiwan thin wall pin was only about 73 grams, about the same weight as comparable Ti pins I've seen, the relief ground in the pin bore is supposed to allow pins with less hoop strength (more distortion). Sounds funky to me, but I guess Wiseco knows what they're doing Well now that I've done my part to turn Goo's cam thread into a piston thread I'll move along
