Gearbox problem. Downshifting impossible

Hi all

My race TLS doesn't shift down any more. When I wanted to shift back from 4th to 3rd, the lever didn't move. I ended up with the transmission blocked in 6th gear. Note the bike still runs, but I can't change gear any more.

I inspected the shifter mechanism and everything seems normal. The shift shaft still moves some degrees left and right (it's like in 6th gear where you can't shift more up, but it is the same when you try to shift down).

Any ideas?? I'll try to remove the GPS to see if there is something wrong from this side.
Otherise this sounds like splitting the engine

Forgot: The oil didn't contain any metal, everything seemed normal.

Greetings
Rufer

I had this happening just ONCE.
It was in fourth, I could upshift into 5th and 6th and back into 4th. Not lower.
It lasted about five minutes.
Not lower than 4th in any case.
Suddenly it went away just as it appeared.

When I split the motor much much later after the crank went south, the dogs and the trans sprockets were in perfect condition. I never came to discover what happened there.

Well I did a whole lap in 6th (on a very slow circuit ) and really couldn't shift any more. I almost burned the clutch limping back to the pits. We tried everything in the pits but it wouldn't shift down.
I tried again after letting it cool down but it refuses to shift down.

Greetings
Rufer

Then I guess I were lucky it unlocked
Actually, I expected it to come back worse and eventually block in some gear but it didn't... Not that I skipped splitting the motor anyway
I wish I could give you more info about it.
Try it again, push it forth and back.. Run the motor, turn it off again... I don't know what else to say

I don't know either. What you describe happened to me too, but always cleared up itself in the next corner.

I'm hoping for some technical input what could cause such symptoms. First idea was shifter mechanism, but that wasn't the case unfortunately.

Greetings
Rufer

I'm afraid I'm not much help. Thankfully I've never had cause to get into a TL gearbox. I suspect Doug or Sam will have some useful input though

Here are some pictures of the shifter mechanism. In my eyes, everything looks OK. I can turn the shift star by hand, but only very few degrees to left and right.

I can't understand how this could happen, but it did happen. Some reading how a gearbox works:

no nasty noises when running?

clutch in adjustment?

But anyway, With the wheel in the air, use a small scrediver to turn the indent gear. rocking the wheel a little as you go. If it wont budge? got to be shift forks I'm afraid.

Ha... 133bhp beat me to it... i was going to suggest exactly what he said... if you cant move the star with a small screw driver... you'll be splitting the cases to replace your bent shift fork(s). sorry.
