There was one of those at the track on Saturday - sounded awesome but didn't look half as sweet as that!

I've been thinking about getting one of these ever since I sold my DRZ.. but I just don't know if I can deal with the maintenance.

Maintenance is on par with a late 90's Kawasaki. Pretty simple stuff, not like the KTM. Maintenance is part of the fun.

I've not owned one, but fiddled a bit. IMHO maintenance is less than the DRZ. Intervals are about the same, but valves are screw and locknut vs shim and bucket. The funny thing is, folks didn't start saying these were high maintenance until the ktm RFS series came out (a design with zero commonality) as best I can tell

Yea, the Husky motor is of the older school big displacement torque beast thumper. Great for wheelies It is built stronger and revs lower than the competition motors.
I had an '83 XL600 that was air cooled of course, but of that school. Off roaded it, rode miles of wheelies on it, hassled Harleys with it and generally just rode the crap out of it. At 40,000 miles it was tired, but still running fine Being water cooled and new - I see no reason Doug's Husky would not be at least as durable as my venerable XL600.

sweet ride doug i was sooooooooooooo close to buying a 610 myself RED is the faster one love to throw a leg over one some day
only reason i went for the KTM 950SE was longer KLM before rebuilds.
PS: watch that thermo-tec tape it's good BUT also it's good for holding moisture in & fatiguing your pipe i found out also a few in thumper talk & advrider have had the same results.
did i say it's a sweet ride
