Oversteer solutions

Hi,
I've had a '99 TL1000R for several months now. I had it at Thunderhill yesterday, along with my '04 GSXR1000. The TL understeered significantly, making it difficult to push the bike hard in corners without it running wide. In contrast, the GSXR held a line effortlessly, which largely rules out the rider as the source of the problem. The front tire on the TL has a fairly "rounded" profile, so a more pointed tire may help. Lowering the front end is easy enough. But are either of these modification likelt to help? Does the TL simply oversteer? If so, I may have to turn it into a commuter bike and forget about track aspirations.
Thanks,
Steve

adding rideheight by spacing the shock and/or raising the forks thru the triples will take care of it, makes a huge difference, stock setup is crap. you can also add yourself to the list to get vandrivers +1 mm swingarm eccentrics, it will add some rideheight and also reduce squat on acceleration making the bike holding the line better.

Thanks J-Bone,
Does front tire profile have much effect? If not, I'll keep the existing tires and just lower the front end for now. If something drags I'll raise the rear.

Dont have much experience with different tires but I would imagine it makes a difference, changing geometry will make a big difference though. Just dont lower the front too much or the wheel could make contact with the radiators on full compression, i would say start by lowering so that you have 10-12mm showing above the triple (up to the cap) and make very small adjustments from there... maybe someone else has other/better suggestions

190/55 will help too. For Trackdays they can be a weapon, but for racing, handicapping yourself aginst modern stuff.
