Strange Electric Problem
I was out for a ride tonight and all was going great... Untill all of a sudden my headlights started to flicker a good amount. At the same time, my gauge lights dimmed a ton, the tach and speedo needles started to fall like the bike was turned off, and my FI light came on. I figure ill pull into a parking lot and bust out my tool kit, get the code and limp home. Apparently the TL had other plans. It just cut all power completely. The thing has nothing. Turning the key does nothing. Me and my buddy check all the usual (Fuses, connections) and everything looks good. Just for shits and giggles we took the battery out of his R1 and hooked it up quick. Bike had power and fired right up but if you disconnect the battery it dies right away. So, is my battery fried or is it the Stator, Rectifier, or some other stupid thing that TL's seem to have?

Not all that strange problem. Seems to be more and more common these days, lot's of threads on the same symptoms.
The bike wont run without a battery even with a good working charging system.
Pull the plug on the starter solenoid and check those connections properly too.

I never had any electrical problems on either TLS,no water could get to it n that bike as it is tucked up under the seat and undertray.
Maybe excessive use of the starter overheats the plug.
What motor vehicle runs the main power off solenoid.
Easily fixed if it does go west.
The solenoid/relay then becomes a sole unit not a mickey mouse power take off. ?
I don't know about all bikes but some were said to !@#$ the R/R if the battery was disconnected while the engine was running, idling speed who knows.
