go with the connector ontop of the starter relay, i had the same issue with the headlights and once i pulled the connector off i found that it was just melted enough to give a false reading when checking for the power on that wire, really look at it and remove the shell and solder the conection right to the relay, makes a much better connection and you might be surprised on some regain power in the bike......
