tls engine cuts when warm

Just bought -97 tls with 46 000 on the klock. I was really pleasd with her until today, when she desided to left me standing on the road side.

So here`s the problem:
The engine is running fine exept when accelerating hard on 1`st or 2`nd gear, it cuts out briefly, but then runs fine through out the rev range. It works fine when accelerating a bit gentlyer. And all this occures only when the engine is warm/hot. Today after the engine warmed up, it stalled when standing on lights with the clutch on, started fine, but after few minutes, it started stalling continuously and the just died. Smoke`d few sig`s and tried starting. It started but died allmost immidiately, and again i couldn`t get it started. Left it alone for several hours and tried again, it fired up ok and worked just fine, until the engine was warm, and the same problem started again.

I`we tried to search answer from this forum but all that i`ve found is tps and/or tb related problems, will do those. But my problem just dont seem to be throtlle related, because the engine cuts so sharply and runs so smooth when working.

Thanks alot in advance !

You need to put the ECU in dealer mode.
Theirs a white four pin connector in the trunk that has two wires connected to it.
Short the two pins together and go riding.
There is a very good chance that a code will be displayed on the dash when the engine stalls.

Hey i had a very similar problem. When the plugs/engine got up to working temp the front one would break down. Replaced them with NGK Iridium and problem sorted. When i inspected the front plug it was easy to see that all was not well.

Quess I`ll have to check the codes but there is though a little problem becaus the last owner have installed koso rx2 meter on it so the riding with the original meter is a bit triky, i have the original meter and i quess i just have to go and try to get it stall while stand still.
This might be easyer now, because the tl wont start at all anymore. It cranks quite well, but wont start, even when the engine is cold.

Check`d the code and nothing, just shows c00, and won`t start.

Should it still show the code even if it won`t start, meaning that if there were some faulty switch or sensor that causes this, it would show it when trying to start the engine ?

Yes

The ECU won’t remember codes if the ignition is switched off but if there is any
Problems in the FI system you should get a code after a few seconds of cranking

If you are showing 00 after a few seconds of cranking then its time to check for spark and fuel

Try checking the TOS, side stand switch, etc. The sensors could be faulting out in the middle of your drive cycle. I had a similar but not identical problem recently where the bike didnt even want to crank. Then it would crank but not start. I tapped the TOS and checked all the wiring and it started eventually. BTW my bike wasnt giving any codes either!

Just a thought!

I charged the battery, with a battery charger and the bike fired up instantly, no broblems, and is workin well. I`m thinkin there might be something wrong with the bikes own charger, becaus i have had similar problems with my car earlier, and that was becaus of a faulty charger.

Well, i have to check the wires and switches and hope it wont do this never again.

Thanks alot to everyone for helping with this !
