Cant get her to fire....HELP...!!!
ok this is the story so far....
battery died....got a new deka.
put her in and fired up ok...
removed side fairing to do charging mod.... guess what?
already been done but with no fuse in line...
disconnect plug from Rectifier, cut wire that goes from rectifier plug back to battery and insert 30amp fuse in the power line...
FORGET to reconnect rectifier to battery before i try to start her...
there's a little puff of smoke from somewhere.... i think it was smoke anyways...
i still have full dash lights, fuel pump primes, all systems go, turns over really well but she won't fire...just seems to be no spark...
the following checks have been completed.... 30amp main fuse, 30 amp inline fuse, all fuses in fuse box.
any ideas?
please help......

Any idea where the puff of smoke came from? Go over the wiring and all the connection points carefully to locate any burn marks or melted plastic.

had that problem before so the electrical fix was done...sort of...i suck BADLY at soldering so i used spade connectors instead...mind you the plug was pretty buggered as well.
my next port of call is to remove the inline fuse (it all worked ok before that was added) then remove the main 30amp fuse box (solenoid power?) and check all the connections there....

wrong!
you're next port of call is to pull off a plug lead and use a spare spark plug to check you actually have no spark, rather than assuming it to be so.

yeah -check for spark. The plugs foul very easily if the bike hasn't started or mix is way off.
I one time fouled 3 day old plugs because of a vacuum leak and the bike wouldn't fire after a couple tries. Troubleshot that thing for about a week before i put in new plugs

No fuel to the cylinder, fouled plugs, weak battery...
