My friend is a RCMP in the vancouver area and he has 48 hours to hand deliver a traffic violation ticket. He has done that 3 times in the past year to bikes that took off on him. Conviction everytime.
But that's here in British Columbia, no idea about Florida

I hope so. What a fool.

(The extra lane that no one ever drives in? WTF? Is that like our emergency stopping only lane?)

Yes, I think it is. In some state(s) I think, it is actually legal for bikes to use the emergency lane for travel when traffic is totally stopped, but FL isn't one of them

Yup, just saw someone get arrested for the same thing yesterday. Pretty stupid, this guy went from getting a simple speeding ticket to being booked on felony charges...and his bike was towed.

Issue is without IDing the driver, it is tough to get a conviction. Even is a citation or arrest (doubtful) they have to prove the rider was the one who ran. Since they didn't ID the rider, they might try to hand deliver a citation, but most will only enter the home address into a "list" and drive by the residence neighborhoods if it is nearby.

not in florida. your ride, your ticket. he can plead innocence or claim it wasn't him violating the law, but the judge will smile and tell him to find better friends. FHP are bad asses and DO NOT play.
