Your first and main fault falls in that you don't have your endorsement...and you know your supposed to have it. Shame on you twice for that because you weren't ignorant of that law. However...get the book, study it and go take your test. Look over the regular drivers book as well as they'll sometimes toss in questions from that as you have to know those as well for operating a motorcycle. Know both those books and you won't make a mistake like driving on the shoulder due to not knowing you can't do it. I'm not trying to be harsh, just that if you do what you know you need to do, then you won't be able to claim inexperience or ignorance anymore.

ah, so since it costs a lot of money it's best to run?
again, if your life is so horrible you are willing to risk it and that of everyone else around then I feel sorry for you. pity is a better word I guess. or don't you think people who run from the police ever get caught? crash? DIE? let me guess.....never happen to you, right? Man, the more I hear the more I realize why Florida has such tough "anti dumbfuck' laws.

It's funny how everyone that's not from FL chimes in with all of this "shame on you" crap. I was pulled over within the first month of me being here because "I couldn't see your license plate". Even though I had just moved here and still had DL from Texas, registration from Texas, insurance card from Texas, PLATES FROM TEXAS! ( BTW, the placement of my plate is legal in Texas.) He still wrote me a ticket. I was clearly from out of town and pulled over as soon as I saw the red and blues. On top of it all, it was a Sunday afternoon and I had pulled up to a stop light in the right hand lane next to this guy. If I had thought for a minute that I had something wrong with my bike, why not just turn right and away from the cop? Needless to say, most bikers I've seen down here get no love and until someone from out of state comes down and tastes this for themselves, they need to STFU. By the way, when you guys do come down, enjoy the cagers that love running red lights because the cops would much rather pull us over because they are to lazy to look for a plate on the back of our bikes than stop the idiots that seem to be colorblind.
On top of it all, he asked a question, "is it possible to take the tag info and make an arrest?" and only got a couple of actual answers. The rest has been people downing him for something his friend did. Way to go Holier-than-thou assholes. |

You can STFU yourself as you are coming off way holier than thou in that comment. You just proved that maybe you don't know jack about the rest of us.

Cops ... yep, they're doing a job. Someones gotta do it.
Pulling over ... Yep, I was doing over 100 once (in a 55 zone) on my way down to Wooster, State Trooper passed me going the other way over a hill. I stopped so fast that by the time he got turned around and back towards me he passed me fast, real fast. He turned around again and pulled in in front of me facing the wrong way. He could not believe I pulled over, was sort of embarrassed that he passed me by. Actually could not decide if he wanted to yell at me or give me ticket. I got a warning and was let go. I got lucky. I'm sure city freeway cops would have reacted differently. And hoofing it away is all your choice. You're not gonna get any sympathy when they get you. Arrogance and bravery may get you away lots of times, but why take the chance. Oh, and not getting your endorsement and riding and getting cited for it is more serious than you may think. Judges don't like that. BMMW |

The thing is, is that not everyone does 45 MPH in a 45 MPH zone or uses their turn signals. Both are "breaking the law". For this guy to catch this much crap for this is just a little hypocritical. |

I'm sure his friend was a hypothetical one and he was referring to himself in the original post though. He even backed it up right here when he typed this Quote:
Would ya be pissed if a bus driver crashed killing 50 people on board if he didn't have his CDL license? What if you had a family member on board? The pilot of the next plane trip you or a loved one takes? The next person who crashes into you? FL isn't the only place that can be anal towards bikers, coming from Texas you should know this, but it seems FL has more idiots per capita on bikes than other states do so they have stricter laws etc.... The bottom line is, it's the riders that brought it on themselves, the Lawmakers didn't just sit down one day trying to think up laws and say hey, we should do this and this to bikers because we're FL and we're dicks. |

Most, if not all states give you a limited amount of time to change your residency status once you move to their state (students paying out of state tuition and military are different). California gives you 10 days to re-register your vehicles and get a Ca. driver's license. And once you live in a new state, you need to comply with their laws, not the laws of your previous state. As for being holier than thou assholes, don't post up stories of stupidity and you wont get flamed. Everyone learns from their mistakes (we hope) as well as the mistakes of others. I'm pretty sure GB has learned something....like he needs a license...btw, did anyone mention that a lot of insurance companies won't cover you once they find out you're riding without a license? There I go...being an asshole again. ![]()

Just because you are running Texas plates doesn't mean you don't have to adhere to Florida's laws. Take radar detectors. Just because it might be legal to use them in Florida, don't think you can cruise across the border to Georgia and use them just because you have Florida plates. I'd also question the legality of your plate location in Texas. I haven't seen a picture of it, but I know many folks who have been cited for having their plate in a location that wasn't in the stock location because it didn't meet the visibility rules from the rear side of the bike. Florida can thank that wonderful event called Bike Week for some of the harshness towards motorcyclists. Idiots come from all over the country and piss both the residents and the police off with their antics. But that doesn't mean it's not hard elsewhere. Cleveland is known to be especially tough against the bikers...thanks to the likes of the starboys. Also, telling folks to STFU because we don't live in Florida doesn't go over well with me either. I grew up in Florida, got my first motorcycle from Jim Walker Suzuki in Daytona Beach, took my MSF class in Florida. I commuted to work every day from Melbourne to Merritt Island and visited my parents in Tampa and friends in Jacksonville. My family still lives down there and I am in town many times a year. I've had my fair share of runins with various police departments in many different states. I can say that I've run into both total dickheads and cool level headed cops everywhere. Worst I experienced was a Gainesville city cop. One of the coolest and level headed was an FHP guy.
