Not so. The concrete is actually the best line and trying to avoid it will cause more issues.
In T1 there is not enough room on the inside to maintain a good line. You can go to the outside but that is a long slow line. In T5 you can go to the outside but faster riders will always just ride through the concrete. This is the most important one not to transition out of. The concrete is at a slightly steeper angle then the pavement and if you transition to the outside before the end of the concrete you risk loosing the front end. I have seen a number of riders transition to the inside early without issue but I don't believe theirs any reason to do so. In T6 you can run the outside of the concrete strip but again it's a longer and slower line... But very good when needing to pass a slower rider when only outside passing is permitted. The caution here is to watch the tar strips near the end. You can run though them, it's just a bit unnerving. Don't let the concrete psyche you out. You can ride it just as hard as the black top.

Awesome write up on Main burn!! You described that track to a tee. If anyone ever goes to this track for their first time you really need to read this write up, it really doesn't get any better. I spent the whole morning trying to get my confidence up on the concrete and it took me untill after lunch to realize that the bumps in the transition from pavement to concrete was the worst part, the concret has lots of traction and I highly reccomend fallowing that line. I think the trickiest part of this track is in the carousel, turns 5-8 I believe. Turn 7 is the one that got me, I lowsided the 06 zx6r there but me and the bike came out better than I thought. This track was the first track I've ever been on and I havent got a chance to go back but I've promised myself that I have to go back to this track next year, it beat me once in the carousel, it wont beat me again!!
