2 day ride with a sleep over

Ok, for all of you who missed the last ride, this one is south for us. Denver west to Aspen for the night and back

September 6-7, 2008
Saturday:
Start in FT. Collins 7:00 AM (5 minute rule applies)
hwy 287 South to Longmont
hwy 66 west to hwy 34 (Boulder turn off)
hwy 34 south to Boulder (Broadway)
hwy 93 (Broadway) south to Golden

From Golden, jump on 470 south to hwy 285 (south of Morrison rd.)
Hwy 285 west to Fairplay (lunch?)
Continue hwy 285 west to hwy 24 (Buena vista lunch?)
hwy 24 north (Buena vista) to hwy 82 (Twin lakes reservoir)
hwy 82 west (Independence Pass) to Aspen (dinner and entertainment)

To the hotel
I suggest going down to Carbondale to room for the night, of course everyone can do their own thing and we all meet up the next morning some where in Aspen.
hwy 82 north (west) to hwy 133 (Carbondale) rooms would be much less expensive and there are a couple of really good bars (well there used to be).

Sunday:
Get up around 7AM and leave for Aspen by 7:45 puts us in Aspen before 8:30
Breakfast in Aspen until 9:30
Hwy 82 east to hwy 24
Hwy 24 north to I 70
I 70 east to hwy 40
Hwy 40 north to Granby
Hwy 34 North (east) over Trail ridge road to Estes Park
Devils gulch road to Drake
Hwy 34 to Loveland and back to Ft. Collins

Don’t even ask how many miles, I haven’t had time to add them up.

Damn..this sounds like fun. I have plans to go ride the mountain bike on a 40 mile ride at the Monarch Crest on the Colorado Trail this weekend.

I just drove through Carbondale this past weekend....headed to I-70 from Crested Butte across Kebbler and McClure passes. Awesome weather up there and minimal traffice for a Labor Day weekend.
