Tried and true Motul guy here. I used it in my race bike with no problems and have been using it in street bikes for years. I even use it in my lawnmower and snowblower....lol.

If you want a true 100% syn oil it will be big $$. Most oils that say Full Syn are not really syn. Rotella 5/40 is not a true syn, I think it is a group 3 oil and true syn oils are group 4 or 5, that doesn't mean its not a good oil just pointing out that the word "Synthetic" is a marketing term in the USA these days and does not indicate the oil is group 4 or 5.

I'm with you on this one TLR Nut. I have used Motul for many years. I use it in my street bikes and in all of the racebikes. Never had a single oil related failure. Great oil and easy to get hold of. Go with Motul 300v !

I'll now ask the question...

what is "ester" oil, and what is "double ester" oil?

I had no luck trying to get the castrol ( they will not ship it into canada unless we buy a couple skids) I did find this for you

http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...in_20W-50.aspx

which is sold in walmart

http://walmart.ca/wps-portal/storelo...=1175&tabId=14

Ester oil is synthetic base oil that has been chemically synthesized. Typically ester oils are used in passenger car air conditioning compressors, refrigerators, and other industrial applications. Esters are one of the classes of synthetics that have been used in Mobil 1 products as well. Esters are stable molecules, provide good solvency, and provide very good low temperature and high temperature performance in engine oils.

right hand side explains what double ester is

...you got the Dino. I don't know about canada, but ours is in a blue bottle. See the pic I posted in post #5.

Yup, after reading some testimonials by N2wheelies, they swear by the 15w40 Rotella T "dino" oil. That is the stuff I picked up. In Canada the 9.5L (2.5gal) jug is white. Dino or synthetic, I was curious if the "heavy duty diesel motor oil" classification is correct.

I'm also entertaining the idea of Mobil 1 V-twin 20w50 fully-synthetic. Mobil says this is the same formulation as their full-synth "Race 4T" oil just a different viscosity. I'm also looking into Motul 300v.

Decisions, decisions...

I didn't notice a dif from the semi syn motul to the 300v. Didn.t shift better, didnt give me better milage and my opinion it wasn't worth it.
