I'm not sure I understand what the problem was? If the bike was at 105km/h, then the cop has to go faster than that to catch him
. Also looks like he's using LIDAR to get the speed. If so, then the vehicle he targeted is the one he got the speed on. At the distance he used it, the beam is very narrow (inches) and will only get one vehicle. Same would go if the car/bike was 3000 feet away. Don't know about his departments rules, but I've seen a lot worse.

They have a special badge that effectively allows them to do whatever they want to do
![]() SE cops in QLD are just plain "bike haters" ![]() A couple of weeks ago, I was on the CBR250RR (Faerieblade ) I haven't ridden - (my definition of ride is to go down to the Gold Coast hinterland for the day & do 300km's - 500km's ) as I have injured my (R) shoulder at work on the 31st May & have been on the FaerieBlade maybe 10 times between then & now ![]() I had been to our real estate agent to hand in our new lease, which is is Woodridge - basically equivalent to the Ghetto in the U.S. These 4 guys pulled up at the traffic lights in a white Skyline - P plate intact, yahooing & whistling being total jerks coz they spot a chic on a bike big deal (tossers) anyway, every red light I had to stop at the skyline full of tossers were still giving me grief. Didn't want to speed/split through traffic as I only had 3 points left on my license,I contemplated pulling into a servo but didn't want to back down & let these tossers know they had annoyed me. Kept riding along the road, passed a few cars & got into the left lane. At the last set of lights, I got throught them before they did, the next stretch of road was approx 1 km up a slight rise then 1 km gentle slope down hill from here. The tossers in the skyline flew past me ( this was in a 70 zone) at this point of time I was probably doing 78/80 km's per hour....on the side of the road was Mr. Plod in all his glory....on a bike. I was laughing to myself on the inside of my helmet....these tossers in the skyline that had repeatedly yelled obscenities & vulgar language for the last 10 km's were about to get pulled over for speeding!!!!! ![]() In my mirrors, I watched Mr. Plod put on his gloves & get on his bike, sirens on & lights flashing. I was doing the speed limit of 70km/per/hour by this stage. I looked in my mirrors again, Mr. Plod was right behind me & the tossers in the skyline were GONE!!!!! I was like surely he is not directing me to pull over ?? Yes indeed he was!!!! ![]() I pulled over as directed, stoped & parked the bike, took off my helmet & gloves. He said he had pulled me over for speeding - I was shocked as!! Then he showed me the radar gun......103 KM/per/hour.........I near fainted! I argued with him that it wasn't me he got & explained that it couldn't have been me as the skyline was in front of me all the way for the last 2 km's - by this time they had obvioulsy gone I explained to him I was maybe at the very most 8-10 km's over - he still insisted that I was doing 103km/per/hour....I was devastated & argued the point until he told me "If you dont shut your stupid mouth I will do you for obstruction!!!!" I explained that it is easy to get carried away with the throttle, he didnt agree even though he actually rode bikes too WTF![]() I replied to him "so you never ever spedd ?" Mr. Plod replied " I choose my times & my places" - I will translate this for you - Yes I speed!!!!So I ended up with a $AU350 fine & 6 points - so I am about to go on a 1 point license for a year So this is what some Aussie police are like - Major Anti Bike!!! If I had done the 103km/per/hour offence I would have been honest about it & not argued the point - but when I KNOW I did NOT commit the offence that really peeves me off. I don't know weather to fight it or not - I am really really angry about this....the tossers in the skyline should have got the fine - NOT me ![]() |

If so you might have a slim chance of arguing your case-with proper representation.Traffic court is not designed for you to win,but video evidence and a decent mouthpiece might give you a fighting chance. Were you on the M1?

Like I said, I've seen worse. I was wondering what the limitations of your police are. Over here, although that video doesn't fit the definition of a pursuit (our definition...ie someone knowingly fleeing), most police agencies have a pursuit policy which sets guidlines for what is acceptable/unacceptable and when to terminate it. Those that don't usually aren't supposed to give chase except under very specific circumstances. As far as chasing for the speed, are the police just supposed to let people go? Yes his driving was agressive, but it just didn't look all that bad to me. Might just be that's what I'm used to seeing here from everyday drivers, not even the police...which is why I asked. Don't you have the speed cameras over there too?

Sure we've seen worse, does that make it acceptable?
I don't know what the rules of engagement are,the cops here (Queensland)seem to write off plenty of cars in high speed chases. The cops in Victoria were limited to 130(?)km/h at one stage so all the boys made sport of baiting them then disappearing into the distance-someone didn't think that one through. And yep,we have speed cameras .Like money from heaven for general revenue. It would be nice to think some of the money would go to road improvements or driver training, but no.Somebody posted how much they gouge,I think Victoria is winning that lottery.

I got pulled over in the rice burner by a really nice country cop, for having a blown headlight . I was on the way back from Mt Buller and it popped about 20 minutes before he saw me. I even had a spare in the car but apparently it was too old and it didn't work when I put it in. So he pulled me over and gave me a fix it. Nastily though, he made me go to Vicroads to get the repair sighted. He could have just ticked the warning box or let me sign and post back saying I'd fixed it. No. I had to take the morning off work which meant I lost $300, and wait at Vicroads because they don't let you make an appointment for a fix it. When the inspector saw it he was as dumbfounded as I was. Last time I help out the country folk by blowing some tourist dollars on them. Not a big example of shit policing but it sure pissed me off, and $300 is cruel and unusual punishment for a blown light globe. I've had much worse times with bike cops while I was riding.
I'm strongly considering putting a permanent recording video camera in my car, with on screen speed display. Or even a dummy camera..? Perhaps if a cop pulls you over with a case like Turisco and you say "are you really sure, cos I have a recording you will be testifying against in court", maybe they will think twice. Can they then try and seize the recording?

I did security on the gold coast down the tweed end. Had my dinner at a shell servo about 2:30am the N.S.W and Q.L.D HWY patrol would meet up there have a chat. When leaving both would have the cars side ways out the drive and race to the bridge topping out over 200km I would say. Asked them one day what the job was like, they told me free gas, tyres and a big V8 "love the job". I can’t say shit they never booked me for speeding.
