I was way off, I had a look at a thread Rufer linked to on gixxer.com by RidgeRace that started the ECU hacking thread here - here's a little snippet:

The K7/K8 GSXR 1000 have been hacked and can be reflashed (also K8/K9 GSXR 600/750). However these ECUs have 450+ maps, including 86 ignition and 104 fuel, and are pushing RomRaider to its limits. A full definition takes RomRaider minuets to load and as often as not it crashes before it finishes.
