is there any difference in brake pad size between early model and late model gsxr radial brake pads I would be guessing the pads all have the same contact area ?

i guess thats possible if you had access to such machinery , should be enough thread left for shorter mounting bolts
The only difference i thought was the 03/04 1000 caliper being a 4 pad item.
Does the SV have its own 310mm rotor with the old 69mm bore,i thought the only 310mm rotor was the late GSXR item with the totally different bolt pattern and PCD.
The 300mm rotor was the last one with the similar bore and PCD to the TL rotor.
5mm spacers to retain the 310's wouldn't be that bad.?

As Amulmuz says the R1 caliper (27mm/30mm piston) used a 16mm radial,a Brembo 18/19 radial would work nicely with the GSXR calipers (30mm/34mm pistons)

As far as machining you would need to split the caliper so the part line face could be clocked on a angle plate then fly cut.
The problem might be the mount bosses have a flare at the mount face, removing that might negate the radial being rigid.
