I just got an email back from the mob (wont mention names) i bought it from in the U.S. after explaining the problem to them.. I had this reply..
"This is an issue with the PC configuration that unfortunately must be sent to Dynojet to repair. You will need to send it back to us and we will sent it to them and turn it around ASAP."
This must be a new issue with the latest PC..

as I would have thought they would be aware of the problem and/or I would have heard about it far more often in the forums

It's just a bummer that it has to make a return trip to the U.S. and Dynojet looks like its poorly represented in Australia.
