Battery Trouble??

Hey guys,
I want to start this post by saying how much useful info is on this site. I have spent countless hours researching various topic to get ideas and gain clarity on future projects.

I bought an '01 tlr and tried to start it just after the guy dropped it off from his freeway delivery route. He had ridden 40+miles only about an hour before I tried to start the bike. I got about 10 cranks of which only 3 were solid sounding rotations. He had told me that the battery was new so I hooked it up to my Tender Jr and within an hour the light was green. Fired right up and went riding on the new bike!

2 days later the battery was dead again. After researching the battery/charging issue I concluded that starting with a battery I KNOW is new is the best choice. After dealing with the current battery issue and the charging/riding/dead battery problems I picked up the new Yusa (or however its spelled). Just tonight I hooked it up to the tender Jr to charge it up and the new battery ony took 2 hours to charge!! Is this normal for a new battery on a .8 amp charge? Should I hook it up to a 1.2 amp charger for 5 hours like the battery cover recommends? Before I go riding with the new battery I want to make sure it is properly charged. I will also clean all necessary connectors as well.

Thanks for the help and I truly love this site...HID's coming soon!
